Terra Rubra Lions Club High School Scholarship Program

Scholarship

The Terra Rubra Lions are proud to support the higher education of our youth through monetary scholarships for graduating high school seniors. The number and amount of scholarships vary from year to year depending on the number and quality of the applications we receive, but we typically award a total of $1500 in scholarships each year.

To qualify, you must:

  • be a senior in high school (or equivalent home-schooled student) who is planning to attend college, technical school, or vocational school after graduation;
  • live or attend school in the Terra Rubra Lions service area;
  • complete the scholarship application form;
  • provide a copy of your high school transcript that includes number of service hours;
  • write an essay describing why you believe you should receive our scholarship; and
  • return the application, your transcript, and your essay to the address on the application by the specified deadline. Late submissions will not be considered.

The motto of Lions Clubs is We Serve. Being a service organization, we pay particular attention to the community service record and financial need of applicants. While we certainly encourage good academic performance, it is not necessarily the primary factor that we consider when deciding who will receive our scholarships. A student with good grades who has an outstanding record of community service stands a better chance to receive one of our scholarships than a student with top grades but who has only a so-so record of service.
