Meeting Notes
Monday, December 6
We met at 6:30 p.m. at Middleburg Park. Lion President Kevin Trump presided over the meeting.
Attendance: We had 23 members and 2 guests present for the evening. Our guests were Lions Wayne and Linda Sherfey from Taneytown Lions.
Reports:
Lion Larry Stambaugh reported that the installation of the exhaust hood system would start on Tuesday, December 7th.
Lion Larry also expressed thanks to Lions Terry, Susan and Bob, and also to Linda Sell for helping with an after funeral gathering on the previous Saturday.
Lion Larry also reported on the candy and nut sales.
We decided that we would not have Santa make a visit for our Family Christmas Meeting on December 20th, but would have entertainment that evening.
Lion Susan Cox asked about the possibility of our winners in the Peace Poster and American Heritage Contest being accompanied by their complete immediate family, since some of the families has more than one child. We approved her request.
Lion Brian Cox announced that the Sportsman’s Gun Raffle is scheduled for January 29th with a snow date of February 5th.
Business:
Lion Wayne Weeks said that we would have our Santa visitation at our building on Saturday, December 18th from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Lion Ralph Gann will be our Santa.
We selected our “Christmas Family in Need” for this year making a donation to them and holding other funds in reserve for the Woodsboro/New Midway Elementary Caring Fund. We also made a donation to Carroll County Times “Holiday Hope Program”.
The 50-50 drawing with a value of $12.00 was won by Lion Shelbe Stambaugh, who donated back to our administrative fund. President Kevin adjourned the meeting at 7:59 p.m. with a Board of Directors Meeting to follow.
Monday, December 20
We held our Christmas Family Night at 6:30 p.m. at Middleburg Park. Lion President Kevin Trump presided over the meeting.
Attendance:
We had 22 members and 11 guests present for our Christmas Family Night. Our guests were Alice Gann, Sandy Grable, Irene Weeks, Linda Sell, June Stutzman, Alice Mehring, Carol and Virginia Gray and Lion Mike Roser's three boys.
Health & Welfare:
Lion Kim was doing well following her surgery, Lion Charlie Cook was in Frederick Hospital and we were asked to remember Helen Dougherty, Anna Trout and Ruth Six.
Reports:
Lion Larry Stambaugh reported that the installation of the exhaust hood system was partially done and another well sample had been taken for testing. Building rentals were scheduled for January 8th and January 22nd with Lions workers needed for both activities. He also reported on the candy and nut sales. He also has tickets printed for the Daytona Party to be held on February 20th.
Lions Karen Mehring, Susan Cox, and Linda Bowers made deliveries of the Christmas Gift Bags to our area elderly and shut-ins. They were very much appreciated by the recipients and did a great job indeed.
Lion Brian Cox reported that we have a count for 240 tickets to be printed for the Sportsman’s Gun Raffle.
Business:
The 50-50 drawing funds went to the club with the Head Table Centerpiece being won by Lion Lewana Walters, and the Basket of Cookies being won by Lion Jim Zinkand. President Kevin adjourned the meeting at 8:00 p.m. with entertainment from Lions Ralph Gann and Larry Gray to follow.
