Meeting Notes

Monday, August 2

We met at 6:30 p.m. at Middleburg Park. Lion President Kevin Trump presided over the meeting.

Attendance: We had 25 members and 4 guests present for the evening. Our guests were Margie Stonesifer, a prospective member, and Mike Roser’s three boys.

Reports: Lion Larry Stambaugh reported on our July Crab Feed. We served 34 bushels of crabs.

Lion Larry also asked about the possibility of moving our Big $1200 Cash Club back one week on the current schedule in order to work the food stand for the Francis Roser Sale, if the need arises. It was the consciences of the club that this could be done if necessary.

President Kevin reported that our Golf Tournament was a very good event, despite the heat. He thanked everyone who was there to help out with the event.

Business: We re-addressed the sizing of our ad for the District Social Program Booklet after seeing the size of the pages in the booklet. We decided to go with the ½ page ad. We had several members sign up for Patron Ads too.

Zone Chairman Lion Beth Sandifer, reminded us of the Zone Meeting at Taneytown Lions on August 24th. The cost is $10.00 per person.

Lion Beth told us that Lion Linda Sherfey has October 12th set up as the date for the dinner and tour at Carroll Community College. We will need to let her know who will be attending that.

Lion Beth also presented Lion Wayne with a 100% Newsletter Editors Award that we received at the Change of Banner.

Lion Susan Cox told us of a family with young children that were down on their luck, and had their power shut off by the power company. We approved a donation to go to the Woodsboro-New Midway School Caring Fund in assisting this family.

The 50-50 drawing with a value of $12.00 was won by Lion Charlie Mehring and he donated it back to the Administrative Fund. Lion President Kevin adjourned the meeting at 7:52 p.m.
