Meeting Notes
Monday, January 5
Attendance:
We met at 6:30 p.m. at the home of Lions Charlie & Karen Mehring. Lion Doris Smith led us in sing “God Bless America.” Lion Lyle Stutzman delivered the invocation. We enjoyed a wonderful carry-in pot luck dinner. We had 19 members and 2 guests present for the evening. Our guests were Zone Chairman Wayne Sherfey and Lion Linda Sherfey.
Health and Welfare:
Lion Bob was doing well after surgery. President Sharon’s daughter had also been in the hospital, but was back home and doing well.
Reports:
Lion Lyle Stultzman had the scholarship applications for review and needed to meet with the Scholarship Committee after our regular meeting. Lion Beth Sandifer told us that we had (6) entries for the American Heritage Essay Contest from Woodsboro/New Midway Elementary School and (1) Lions Club member entry and needed to meet with the Essay Committee after our regular meeting.
Lion Terry Grable reported on the progress of the building renovation. Work on the walls was already scheduled to begin that week.
President Sharon had her “Lion of the Month Awards” from July through December to present. They were: July-Kevin Trump, August-Larry Gray, September-Shelbe Stambaugh, October-Linda Bowers, November-Beth Sandifer, and for December-Larry Stambaugh and Terry Grable.
Lion Larry Stambaugh handed out Daytona Party Tickets and asked members to push the sales of the tickets. He also said that the Girls Softball Registration is in progress.
Lion Wayne read through the M & A Report for December to see if there were any additions or corrections to be made.
Business:
There was no new business.
The 50-50 Drawing with a value of $12.00 was won by Lion Mike Roser and he donated it back to the Building Fund. President Sharon adjourned the meeting at 8:02 p.m.
Monday, January 19
Attendance:
We met at 6:30 p.m. at the home of Lions Dick & Linda Bowers. Lion J.R. Weeks led us in singing “God Bless America.” President Sharon led the Pledge of Allegiance to our nation’s flag. Lion Terry Grable delivered the invocation. We enjoyed a wonderful carry-in pot luck dinner. We had 16 members and 1 guest present for the evening. Our guest was Lion Barb Eyler’s friend, Loni.
Health and Welfare:
Lion Bob was doing well and thanked the club for the fruit basket. President Sharon reported that her daughter is also doing well. Lion Larry Stambaugh is to have shoulder surgery February 4th.
Reports:
Lion Terry Grable reported on the progress of the building renovation. He said that we would need a work night to tear down the front bathroom walls and remove the fixtures. Lion Neal Wilhide was the low bidder on the work for the walls and siding and was awarded the contract.
Lion Beth Sandifer told us that our American Heritage Essay Contest had been chosen and will be at our February 2nd meeting at Buttersburg Inn. Lion Larry Gray said that our Peace Poster winner will also be at that meeting.
Lion Larry Stambaugh gave an update on the Daytona Party and said that help would be needed to set up on that Sunday morning.
There was no new business.
The 50-50 Drawing with a value of $ .50 was won by Lion Karen Mehring and each member donated a dollar to the Building Fund.
President Sharon adjourned the meeting at 8:02 p.m.
