Meeting Notes

Tuesday, September 8

We met at 6:30 p.m. at Middleburg Park. Lion President Beth Sandifer presided over the meeting.

Attendance: We had 16 members and no guests present for the evening.

Health & Welfare: Lion Kevin said that he was a new grandfather and Lion Larry Gray’s arm was mending.

Reports: Lion Larry Stambaugh reported on the building progress and said that 168 cans of nuts will be ordered for another fund raising project. He also reported on the August Crab Feed and the Gas Raffle ticket sales.

Lion Charlie Mehring reported on the bid to get our vent hoods done. He also asked us to think about the possibility of a motorcycle or lawnmower raffle as a future fundraiser.

Lion Larry Gray has contacted the New Windsor Middle School regarding the Peace Poster Contest and has received the Peace Poster Kit.

President Beth said that the Quilt Raffle ticket sales are going well. She also reported on the Home Merchandise Auction and said that Lion Grant Harding will be our auctioneer.

Lion Shelbe Stambaugh reported on the Basket Bingo asking us to help with getting basket sponsors.

Business: We approved having a fifth Crab Feed on October 24th.

President Beth said that District Governor Bob Disinger wants each club to support “Lions Saving Kids Sight Program. He asked for a donation of $10 per member on the club roster.

President Beth adjourned the meeting at 8:10 p.m.

Monday, September 21

We met at 6:30 p.m. at Middleburg Park. Lion President Beth Sandifer presided over the meeting.

Attendance: We had 16 members and no guests present for the evening.

Health & Welfare: There were no reports.

Reports: Lion Larry Stambaugh reported on the building progress. Other members reported on other work being done.

Lion Karen Mehring said that the American Heritage Essay Contest was getting started with a lot of help from Lion Susan Cox.

Lion Linda Bowers had the final numbers for our $1200 Cash Club.

President Beth said that the Quilt Raffle ticket sales are still going well with more store locations to be set up at. There was a recent article in the Carroll County Times Neighborhoods Section regarding the raffle. She also reported on the Home Merchandise Auction and said that items are coming in.

Lion Shelbe Stambaugh reported on the Basket Bingo asking us to help with getting much needed basket sponsors and items to fill baskets.

Business: There was no new business.

Lion Charlie Mehring won the 50-50 drawing, which he donated toward the Building Fund.

President Beth adjourned the meeting at 8:35 p.m.

Saturday, September 26 (ad hoc meeting)

Lion President Beth Sandifer called an ad hoc meeting on Saturday, September 26, before our crab feed to discuss the vent hoods for the kitchen. Nineteen members were present. Lion Charlie reported that we could get our 10’ vent hood refurbished and installed for a little over half the cost of getting both hoods installed. A motion to accept the proposal was made and seconded. The members voted to approve the installation.
