Meeting Notes

Monday, October 6

We met at 6:30 p.m. at Middleburg Park with a wonderful carry-in pot luck dinner. Lion President Sharon Weeks presided over the meeting.

Attendance: We had 22 members and 8 guests present for the evening. Our guests were PDG Andy DeMario, PDG Carl Welsh, Lions George Riley and Chuck Miller; all from Lineboro-Manchester Lions Club; Lion Bill Gereny from Greater Carroll Lions Club, Tom Baker, Doug Kiser and Sarah Keefer.

Health & Welfare: Lion Mike Roser was getting along, Lion Donna Jackman had developed an ankle infection and PDG Buck Fisher’s son was home and doing well.

Reports: PDG Andy Demario had the pleasure of inducting Tom Baker as the newest member of our club. PDG Andy also presented Past President Larry Stambaugh with a Membership Growth Pin for our increase in membership for last year.

Lion Linda Bowers gave a report on the $1200 Cash Club & Dinner that we held in September.

Business: Thurmont Lions are having their Charter Night on October 22nd. We took a count of 9 members to attend. Thurmont Lions will also be chartering a new Leo Club. We approved making a donation of $50 toward the new Leo Club.

The 50-50 Drawing was won by Lion Dick Bowers and he donated it back to the Administrative fund. President Sharon adjourned the meeting at 8:02 p.m. with a board meeting to follow.

Monday, October 20

We met at 6:30 p.m. at Middleburg Park. Once again, we enjoyed a wonderful carry-in pot luck dinner. Lion President Sharon Weeks presided over the meeting.

Attendance: We had 18 members and no guests present for the evening.

Health & Welfare: We had reports on Lion Lewana, Lion Linda’s Mom, and that Lions Sharon & Wayne were new great-grand parents.

Reports: Lion Shelbe Stambaugh gave a report on our Basket Bingo. She did a great job with the fund raiser as usual.

Lion Larry Stambaugh announced that our insurance coverage on our Middleburg Park building and personal property had been updated.

Business: We had a short discussion on future meetings during the winter. We have some meetings coming up at special places with programs and remaining meetings will be at various members’ houses by invitation to the club members while more building construction is being done. Our first meeting in November will be at the Middleburg Park Building and second meeting will be at Carroll County Hospital with a meal and tour. Our December meetings will be at Larry & Shelbe Stambaugh’s house on December 1st and at Jim & Kim Zinkand’s house on December 15th.

Lion Linda reminded us of the upcoming Blood Drive on October 27th and said food donations could be dropped off at her house.

We approved a donation of $150 to LVRF.

The 50-50 Drawing was won by Lion Linda Bowers and she donated it back to the Building fund.

Lion President Sharon adjourned the meeting at 8:12 p.m.
